Amla berries are small, light green and, according to Ayurveda, have ﬁve tastes: sour, astringent, sweet, bitter, and pungent. Amalaki, commonly known as Amla or Indian Gooseberry, is native to India and often used in Ayurvedic medicine. “Amala” translates to pure, clean, and shining.
